Success!! but it took 20 minutes to cancel an event w 36 people that ended up not happening and needed to be removed from the calendar.
Need a "Select All" option with cancel fee (or remove the $0 fee if its free: I'm sure there is a great reason for doing it this way but it is horrid for administrative purposes and our constituents always freak about seeing a fee when it's free). Also need a "Select All" option to cancel the registration. If this had been a list of 300 people it would have taken too long.
Backstory:
We had to cancel an event that we had people register for. I tried to cancel the event in Blackbaud and it says that I cannot cancel the event because people have registered for the event. I try and delete the participants and it says that I cannot delete them because they paid a fee, however the fee was $0 that I had to set up to set up the registration. Can you please advise a way to cancel the event in Blackbaud?
Response: Here is the Knowledge Base Article that talks about Events. https://webfiles.blackbaud.com/support/helpfiles/church/content/events-event-record.html
Note you can not cancel an event that has registered participants or assigned volunteers in it.
Delete each participant in the Work with Participants tab > Click the ellipsis next to the participant name and click delete. Once they are all deleted. Cancel the event.
Follow up: When I try to delete the participants, for some, I get the following message in red “You can’t delete this participant because a fee is associated with their record.” Because we had them fill out a registration form we had to create a fee of $0. I cannot delete some of the participants and then cant cancel the event. I have deleted some of the participants. It took me almost 15 minutes to go through this and this event had 36 participants.
Follow up Response: This is set up as a safety net to capture historical registrations. However, to work around this if you click on the name in the work with Participants it will open the registration. You can delete the fee, and then delete the participant off of the list. Once this is completed, you should be able to delete the event.
YES! We have run into this issue as well. It takes so long and leaves so much room for error doing it 1 by 1.
